With nine players already receiving the boot at Kaizer Chiefs, the Siya crew has been informed that the club could make a shock U-turn on one of the club’s peripheral figures.
Kearyn Baccus, Samir Nurkovic, Daniel Cardoso, Lazarous Kambole, Leonardo Castro, Lebogang Manyama, Daniel Akpeyi and Dumisani Zuma, and more recently Bernard Parker have all been released, while Anthony Akumu has been transfer-listed by the club.
There had been talk in the fraternity that defender Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya could form part of the mass exodus at Naturena, owing to the large amount of time he spent on the periphery of the club over the last two seasons.
He had made just five appearances in the 2021/22 campaign.
However, according to Siya sources, Ntiya-Ntiya could well stay at Chiefs and fight for his place in the team under newly-appointed coach Arthur Zwane.
“The player struggled under Gavin Hunt and Stuart Baxter, that is true.
But don’t forget he was part of the players that came from Arthur’s hands in the development ranks and they know each other very well, so they are currently discussing but he could stay,” the source told the crew.
Chiefs do have Sibusiso Mabiliso and Happy Mashiane as their left back options, and the club is expected to welcome back Sifiso Hlanti from injury, having been ruled out since November with a ruptured Achilles tendon and Ntiya-Ntiya could stake his claim in the side.
Ntiya-Ntiya was promoted to the Chiefs first team in 2018 after playing a starring role under Zwane in the club’s DStv Diski Challenge team.
