Kaizer Chiefs announce 22-man squad to Zambia

Kaizer Chiefs have pushed pause on the Betway Premiership after Tuesday’s narrow 1-0 victory over Golden Arrows at the FNB Stadium.

Co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Ben Khalil Youssef are preparing the troops for matchday three in the CAF Confederation Cup. The first two outings were the 2-1 loss to Al-Masry in Suez, Egypt, before the 1-1 draw with Zamalek in Polokwane.

Right up next are Zambian Super League giants ZESCO United on Sunday, 25 January. Kick off will be at 15:00 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Soon before the drive to the OR Tambo International Airport, Amakhosi announced the 22-man travelling list.

The likes of Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Bradley Cross, and George Matlou remain injured, as confirmed by coach Kaze.

Meanwhile, surprise omissions include Gaston Sirino, Thabo Cele, and Etiosa Ighodaro.

Goalkeepers: Brandon Petersen, Bruce Bvuma and Takalani Mazhamba. Defenders: Thabiso Monyane, Dillan Solomons, Aden McCarthy, Paseka Mako, Sphiwe Msimango, Zitha Kwinika and Inacio Miguel.

Midfielders: Thulani Mabaso, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Lebohang Maboe, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Mduduzi Shabalala, Mfundo Vilakazi and Pule Mmodi.

Forwards: Asanele Velebayi, Makabi Lilepo, Luke Baartman, Khanyisa Mayo and Flavio Da Silva.
