- A man has been found guilty of the brutal murder of taxi manager Jan Njomo in Atteridgeville.
- The court heard that the victim was shot multiple times, with another person injured during the attack.
- Sentencing is expected to take place in September 2026.
Justice has finally been served for slain taxi manager Jan Njomo, who was brutally killed in Atteridgeville.
The Pretoria High Court has found Lindokuhle Magudulela guilty of premeditated murder, attempted murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances on Thursday, 16 April 2026.
The charges relate to the fatal shooting of Njomo and the attempted murder of Kgomotso Mokwena.
In July 2022, Njomo was involved in an argument with two taxi marshals. During the altercation, he instructed them to avoid engaging with him directly and to report any concerns through the proper office channels.
He then approached another taxi manager to explain what had happened.
While speaking to the other manager, Magudulela opened fire, fatally shooting Njomo. A stray bullet struck Mokwena, who was standing nearby.
Magudulela continued shooting Njomo while he was on the ground before fleeing the scene. Njomo was declared dead at the scene.
The accused was arrested on 21 October 2022 while hiding in Pretoria West and has remained in custody since then.
During the trial, Magudulela pleaded not guilty and denied any involvement in the crime. However, the National Prosecuting Authority presented strong evidence, including testimony from three eyewitnesses and police officials, which proved the State’s case beyond a reasonable doubt.
The matter has been postponed to 21–25 September 2026 for sentencing proceedings.
