Football analyst Junior Khanye has warned Kaizer Chiefs supporters not to expect immediate success under new head coach appointment Arthur Zwane.
Amakhosi are undergoing a huge squad overhaul with up to 10 new signings expected to be made.
The club have already recruited Stellenbosch duo Ashley Du Preez and Zitha Kwinika, while Siyethemba Sithebe will join from AmaZulu FC.
“They’ve done well to identify Arthur, I know he will build up the squad’s confidence because he knows the club,” Khanye tells KickOff.
“I’m sure he will have an influence on new signings, though he will not be 100% in control because Chiefs are a huge team institution while Arthur is relatively inexperienced.
“Chiefs did well by giving Arthur the job because he is local, but they mustn’t expect any trophies immediately as there’s still lots of work to be done.
“In Du Preez, they have signed a quality player, but he still needs coaching, I’m sure he will click very well with the likes of Keagan Dolly and Khama Billiat.
“I don’t understand why Chiefs signed Zitha Kwinika though, he is not a national team player.
“I believe the money paid for Kwinika could have gone for either a signing such as Sipho Mbule or Ronwen Williams.
“They should have gone also for Kermit Erasmus and Gabadinho Mhango.
“Yes, Arthur will bring back that spark but they needed somebody with experience to win trophies.”
