Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Junior Khanye has given an insight into his Junior Khanye Academy after recently presenting the latest kits, saying he has big dreams.

The player-turned-analyst can be seen weekly on iDiski TV but he is also busy building a football club in his hometown, Daveyton.

Khanye recently presented the latest kit for his academy teams, leading to iDiski Times catching up with the outspoken analyst.

“We started this project for Junior Khanye Football Academy this year February with U19s,” he told iDiski Times.

“They’ve play about 20 games all in all, including friendlies. No losses, we drew up about five games and won 15. In the league they were number one for about five, six months but because of games in hand now we dropped to number two.

“And we recently beat Bidvest Wits Under 19 4-1. [We played] beautiful football, you can confirm with Wits technical team. We played Orlando Pirates Under 19. We didn’t have the depth of Pirates, they had about four substitute players, we only had one and we played 3-3.

“So regionally, we never lost. They won about five games and drew two. In the Under 19 the age we’re using is 14, 15, 16 and 17, that’s all. Aged 17 we’ve got about four players.

“Clearly to my technical team. I’ve got two coaches, coach Mdu Masilela and Bongani Khumalo and they are a well-structured team.

“Thanks to World Sports Betting for sponsoring my foundation all in all and also for sponsoring my academy and the senior side, Fak’ iMali Uzobona FC.”

Khanye also added that he will add additional age groups to his academy, hoping to develop players the whole country can benefit from.

“Before the end of this year we’ll be applying Under 17 for Junior Khanye Football Academy, Under 16, under 13, Under 11 and Under 7,” he explained.

“But it’s not all about the results, for us it’s about playing, developing these kids psychological and physical to play and compete around the world.

“Daveyton is one of the best places with talent but they never got a structure like this.

“So thanks God for the platform that he has given to me. So I think I can change people’s life here. Because I’ve managed to give other people a job, coaches, kit manager, general manager, administration.

“A very, very big project I’m building here. This Junior Khanye Football Academy is a project that I want to continuously saving the whole nation and also going showcase their talent around the world.

“We need proper players that can understand the South African football culture and identity.”
