After an extended spell on the sidelines, this Orlando Pirates star is set to finally return to action.

Picking up a long-term injury is never easy especially when it comes to your achilles tendon.

The good news however is that the wait is almost over for 25-year-old central defender Thabiso Sesane.

Orlando Pirates star to finally return for the club

Sesane is in the final processes of his rehabilitation journey for a ruptured achilles tendon injury.

He last turned out for Orlando Pirates early in February 2025. It was during a league match against Sekhukhune United where he pulled up in the opening 20 minutes.

Sesane was originally supposed to return for the club at the beginning of the new season.

A delay in his recovery however means he’ll now return a whole eight months later for Orlando Pirates.

According to Soccer Laduma, Sesane is set to return for the club in October.

The publication further claim Sesane is back in full training. He will however only return to competitive action after the upcoming October international break.

Sesane to boost defence

Before suffering injury, Sesane was on a roll for Orlando Pirates. Last season, he made 29 appearances before getting injured in February.

Had he remained fit till the end, Sesane would’ve likely made over 40 appearances for the Buccaneers.

Now, he’ll have to start from scratch and impress new coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.

Ouaddou replaced Jose Riveiro at the beginning of the season.

Next up for Orlando Pirates is a crucial CAF Champions League preliminary clash.

Ouaddou’s side host Lioli in the return leg at the Orlando stadium. The first leg ended 3-0 in favour of the Buccaneers.

Pirates are on a seven-game winning streak across all competitions. This includes their 3-0 MTN8 final triumph over Stellenbosch FC.
