Former Orlando Pirates defender Wayde Jooste has sent a heartfelt farewell message to Buccaneers supporters after parting ways with the club, while two clubs are understood to be interested in his services.
The 30-year-old joined Pirates in October 2020 from Highlands Park after a very successful season with ‘The Lions Of The North’.
It was a dream start for the former Lamontville Golden Arrows defender as he won MTN8 just after a few months of joining Ezimnyama Ngenkani.
It came as a surprise to many to see him not finishing his three-year contract with the Soweto giants and the former Arrows defender now sent a farewell message, thanking Orlando Pirates for everything they’ve done for him.
“Firstly, I just wanna say thank you! Thank you to the club, the chairman, the management, coaches, and the back room staff,” he wrote on Instagram.

“It has always been a personal dream and goal of mine to wear the famous black and white jersey, to play at Orlando Stadium, and to call it HOME!
“Supporting the club as youngsters along with my dad we would always have discussions about one day me playing for the club and joking around about making the famous skull and cross bones sign before every game!
“I got to live out my dream and partially my dads as well! I’ll forever be indebted for the chance that was given to represent the club and always gave my all when wearing the jersey!
“I still do believe I had so much more to give to the club that has my heart and my heart will always be with the passionate supporters that were there for me from the moment I signed and honestly are still there, thank you very much and I’ll always appreciate you guys!
“I came to the club not winning a single trophy in my career and after only few months I had achieved just that, and the first the club has won in a very long time!
“This is honestly not the way I thought I’d say goodbye but every journey has an ending, and that’s where a new journey begins!
“Thanks for the memories, once & always Orlando Pirates.”
This publication has learnt, there are already two teams interested in Jooste, with Eastern Cape-based side Chippa United keen on his services, alongside Pretoria giants SuperSport United, as they both look to boast their squads for the upcoming season.
Jooste made 39 appearances in all competitions for Pirates in the two seasons he spent with the club, providing four assists.
