After departing Stellenbosch FC at the end of last season, Robyn Johannes has retired from professional football.
Johannes, who turns 36 later this month, made his professional debut back in 2004, and spent 18 years playing the professional game in South Africa.
The Capetonian left home as a teenager to join the University of Pretoria, and after beginning his career at Tuks, he made a big move to neighbours, Mamelodi Sundowns.
Six years later he joined Orlando Pirates. Whilst at Pirates, he also spent a season on loan at Golden Arrows. After stints at Maritzburg United and AmaZulu, Johannes had a career revival when he joined Cape Town City in 2016, being named captain in their second season.
From there he joined Bidvest Wits for the 2019/2020 campaign, before spending his last two seasons at Stellies.
While Johannes had considered playing on at one point, he confirmed to iDiskiTimesthat the time felt right for him to call it quits, and focus on the next chapter of his career.
iDiski Times wishes Johannes all the best for his next adventure.
