American R&B star Joe Thomas has recently become one of the international stars to have their names engraved onto South African soil.

The 52-year-old No One Else Comes Close hitmaker was recently honoured with the first-ever Walk of Fame Star ahead of the grand opening of Ndlala Mall.

Joe recently visited the country in honour of Women’s Month, where he, alongside local vocalists Vusi Nova and Zonke, serenaded thousands of fans at the Wanderers Cricket Stadium on Women’s Day. While the show did not go exactly as planned due to bad sound quality, the singer recently received an opportunity to give his fans a show he felt they deserved when he was approached to be the headlining act for the opening of Ndlala Mall in Pretoria.

This comes after the previous candidate, and fellow R&B singer, Tank, revealed that he will no longer be attending the event.

In conversation with the entertainment publication TshisaLive, Joe expressed excitement ahead of the upcoming performance, adding that after having setbacks at Wanderers, this is the perfect opportunity to deliver on something fans might never forget.

“It’s always refreshing being in South Africa because it’s always love,” he said. “Unfortunately, I experienced glitches in my previous performance.”

“I had to go and get a breather in Zimbabwe from that ordeal,” he added. “I’m looking forward to my performance at Ndlala Mall, and I’m humbled to have received the star from Thami Ndlala.”

The grand opening is set to take place on 22 and 23 August.
