The Polygamist continues to become a binge-worthy Netflix series, even catching the attention of American singer-songwriter Joe Jonas. One third of the Jonas Brothers, the hitmaker’s reaction to the show left many laughing.

The Polygamist stuns Joe Jonas
Taking to his TikTok account on 24 June 2026, Joe showcased snippets of the show where Jonasi Gomora’s name was mentioned. Given that it is similar to his own, the former actor wrote:
“Ummm, Netflix, I just wanna talk… Hey, so what’s happening?”

What is The Polygamist about?
Based on Zimbabwean author Sue Nyathi’s acclaimed novel, the South African show centres on Joyce Gomora, portrayed by Gugu Gumede, whose family life shatters after her husband’s secret affairs come to light.
The show has entered the Top 10 on Netflix in many countries, proving how impactful and entertaining it has become since premiering on the major streaming platform.
Online users weigh in
Many South African members of the online community were stunned to find out that Joe was aware of the show, adding humour to the comment section.

An amused @sheismesthe commented, “This is hilarious! I’m sorry, Joe Jonas, but this series had us all in South Africa howling!”
@dyno373799912 humorously wrote under the post, “My favourite Jonas has finally met my least favourite Jonas.”

@anayasarai4 told social media users, “For those who are confused, the main character on the show’s name is Jonasi. Also, it’s been in the Top 10 all week, so I’m not surprised he’s found it.”
