Abrahams posted a picture from the Kaizer Chiefs dressing room before a recent Amakhosi match. The number 35 became available after Aden McCarthy left the club for Sabah FK in Azerbaijan.

The 21-year-old is yet to make his Amakhosi debut. Head coach Fernando Da Cruz confirmed that Abrahams is currently unfit after missing pre-season with Stellenbosch FC before joining Amakhosi.

FAIZ ABRAHAMS BUILT A RAPID RISE

Abrahams has emerged as one of South Africa’s most exciting young attacking talents. The Cape Flats product started his development at Ajax Cape Town, which later became Cape Town Spurs.

He made his Premier Soccer League debut in April 2024, just one day after his 19th birthday. His performances soon attracted greater attention from clubs across the country.

Stellenbosch FC played a major role in his development. During the 2024/25 DStv Diski Challenge campaign, Abrahams scored 11 goals and provided six assists.

Those impressive numbers earned him the DDC Player of the Season award. He then made his senior debut for Stellenbosch, ironically facing Kaizer Chiefs.

Abrahams also gained experience abroad with Hapoel Kfar Saba in Israel. He made 11 appearances during his loan spell, scoring three goals and providing three assists.

At international level, he represented Amajita during the 2025 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations. He featured three times and provided an assist as South Africa won the continental title.

KAIZER CHIEFS DEBUT STILL TO COME

Now, Abrahams has joined Kaizer Chiefs and will look to establish himself at Naturena.

The youngster has already shown his attacking ability at youth and senior level. His pace and creativity could give Amakhosi another exciting option once he reaches full fitness.

However, Da Cruz will not rush his return. The coach confirmed that Abrahams missed the pre-season period at Stellenbosch, leaving him behind his new teammates in terms of match fitness.

That means Kaizer Chiefs supporters will have to wait a little longer for his first appearance. For now, the number 35 shirt has provided another glimpse of the latest Amakhosi signing.

The big moment, however, will come when Faiz Abrahams finally makes his Kaizer Chiefs debut.
