Orlando Pirates captain Happy Jele has sent out a message to the club’s supporters ahead of the 2nd leg CAF Confederation Cup semi-final this afternoon.
Pirates are on the verge of securing another continental final in a season that can best be described as inconsistent based on their domestic exploits.
While it was an injury-hit campaign under a new-look coaching duo with Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids their run in the continental tournament has offered a major chance to secure major silverware.
The Buccaneers beat Al Ahli 2-0 in the first leg in Libya last week and have their return leg at home, similarly to the Simba clash in the previous round – which marked the return of fans at their home venue.
Jele admits it’s a major boost for the squad and it motivates them to push further to appease their supporters who’ve been notably critical of their 2021/22 domestic campaign.
“It’s a motivation for us as a team, we’ve been playing without fans and they’ve been supporting us at home and now we need to do it for them,” Jele said ahead of the game.
“We need to do it for the team and for the supporters as well, so it’s important for us because tomorrow when they come in their numbers we need to perform and make them happy.”
