Former Orlando Pirates captain Happy Jele is not sure whether he will be with Royal AM next season after the club gave him a lifeline following his Bucs exit.
Jele joined the KwaZulu-Natal club in the January transfer window after leaving Orlando Pirates last season.
It’s not clear whether the former Bucs defender’s contract will expire at the end of this season, as neither Royal AM nor the player confirmed how long his deal is.
To make matters worse, Jele sustained a muscle pull in the 2-1 loss to Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final at Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday night.
He was trying to clear the danger and in the process hurt himself, resulting in him being stretchered off the pitch just 22 minutes after the game had started.
At this stage, it is now known how long he will be out for, though it could threaten his future with Royal AM, if he is out for long.
The 36-year-old himself has admitted he doesn’t know what his future holds, but cryptically stated he is “working on something”.
“I don’t know, I can’t predict the future,” said Jele.
“So far I’m working on my own, working for Royal AM and some of the things working on my side. So I don’t know what is going to happen, I can’t predict the future.
“Having said that, there is something I’m working on.”
Whether what Jele is working on is related to convince Royal AM about staying on for the Pietermaritzburg club next season, or whether he is looking elsewhere, remains to be seen.
