Mzansi Magic’s telenovela, iThonga, comes to an end after earning 10 nominations at the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs).
The channel has revealed the finale dates for Genesis and iThonga after announcing that both telenovelas have reached their natural conclusions one season later.

The Head of Scripted Content: Middle and Mass at MultiChoice Group, a CANAL company, Tebogo Matlawa said:
“Genesis will continue to air until April 2026, keeping viewers engaged as its storyline unfolds. iThonga will also reach its natural conclusion on Friday, February 27. Both telenovelas have delivered 260 episodes to the channel and have concluded production.
“These shows were written with fixed storylines and character arcs in mind and produced to the highest level of quality for our viewers to enjoy.”
“As those stories have now run their charted courses, they’ll take their place in the Mzansi Magic library of thrilling telenovelas, with exciting new shows in the works to take their place.”

Genesis first aired in April 2025, following the story of Felicia Thabethe, who was once a queen of gospel that thought she had built an unshakable legacy with her husband Gabriel. But when shocking secrets surface, everything she has worked for is thrown into chaos. Now, with Genesis Records at risk, Felicia must fight to protect her family’s name before it all crumbles.
The show has a star-studded cast that includes Baby Cele, Buyile Dladla, Siyasanga Papu, Nay Maps, Gaosi Raditholo, KB Motsilanyane and Kealeboga Masango.
iThonga first aired in March 2o25, telling the story of a thrilling drama about love, brotherhood, and the unbreakable bond of twins. iThonga dives deep into this notion with Banele and Sanele, twin brothers walking two completely different paths – one in the light, the other in the shadows – but their fates are forever linked.
The show boasts a powerful cast that includes Bonko Khoza, Ayanda Borotho, Noluthando Ngema, Siphosethu Mabaso and Nelisiwe Sibiya.
