“I plan to bring more awareness to mental health, especially in rural and disadvantaged areas, because I truly believe that we need to work on the mind for any change to come about in this country. I plan to mobilise various stakeholders and the nation so we can bring about educational empowerment through the tackling of issues such as period poverty among young girls, workshops that teach children about the importance of mental health from a young age, and mentorship programmes for young women so they can be empowered to be agents of their own future”, Shudufhadzo told the Miss SA organisation.

In her quest to bring about mental health awareness Musida created an online campaign titled Mindful Mondays where she spoke to various experts on a diverse range of topics related to mental health. The programme was also hosted in conjunction with the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG).

SHUDUFHADZO FINDS HER MAGIC

The Miss SA 2020 winner has also written and published her first children’s book titled, Shudu Finds Her Magic. The book is published in six South African languages namely Afrikaans, English, Sesotho, Venda, Xhosa and Zulu.

Shudu Finds Her Magic eloquently tells the story of Musinda’s upbringing in a small village named Ha-Vhangani in Limpopo. According to the SowetanLive the book also follows Shudu’s adjustment period when she relocated from Limpopo to Gauteng and experienced bullying after joining a new school.

“The book is aimed at children aged between four and 12 years of age and deals with bullying and the power of friendship. I hope that youngsters will be able to see themselves reflected in the storyline and be able to take something positive away from it”, she told the media outlet.

An inspiration to many, Shudufhadzo’s reign as Miss SA 2020 has left a mark on the hearts of many South Africans.
