Every mother’s dream is to give her children the world. For radio presenter and television personality, Anele Mdoda, that dream is no different.

The proud mother recently surprised her son Alakhe with a cricket-themed birthday party when she booked out the iconic Wanderers Cricket Stadium in Johannesburg in celebration of his 10th birthday.

Taking to social media, she shared a gallery of images building the suspense to the day of the celebration.

In one post, she wrote: “A crown birthday to the prince! Turning 10 on the 10th,” before later adding, “He has no clue what his party is this year and everyone has done a great job at helping me keep the secret.”

The day appeared to be everything a 10-year-old might have dreamt of having. As part of the celebrations, friends and family members all gathered to sing the iconic Happy Birthday song, before a massive video reel showcased some milestone moments of the past decade in Alakhe’s life.

What a day!!!! They even had his photos up on the screen.

Later, it was time to make his wish and blow the candles of his beautiful cricket-inspired cake. As the cherry on top of a perfect day, they enjoyed the inaugural Alakhe T10 match between him and some of his closest friends. Also in attendance were several familiar faces including comedian Trevor Noah, as well as Sizwe Dhlomo who are known to be close friends with Anele.
