Mzansi Shook As Zoleka Mandela Battles Cancer Again: “I’m Dying … I Don’t Want To Die”

The mood has been sombre in South Africa since Zoleka Mandela revealed that she has been diagnosed with cancer again.

If you’ve been following Zoleka’s story, you’d understand that she has spent half of her life fighting for her life. She fought breast cancer twice, fought alcohol addiction, and also went through a sad journey of drug addiction but overcame it.

Should we even mention that she was sexually abused as a child and she was strong enough to allow her scars to heal? The mother of six also lost two of her children, both her mom and grand mom. She had to heal from all of that as she thought she was putting pieces of her life together and everything seemed to be going right, the author who documented her 10-year breast cancer journey in an autobiography, When Hope Whispers, learned she has cancer in her bones.

Taking to her Instagram, Nelson Mandela’s daughter revealed that she had sought medical attention after experiencing pain in her left rib and was informed she may have cancer of the bones and is terrified about the pending diagnosis.

“I’ve had a sore back for more than a month now and recently consulted with my GP when I could no longer tolerate the excruciating pain in my left rib. I went for an X-ray of my chest and rib a few days ago — I have a pathological fracture and swelling caused by cancer,” Mandela wrote on the image-sharing social media networking site.”

She further went on to say that her doctor told her that the cancer cannot be eradicated or cured, and she is currently awaiting the results of a CAT scan. “I don’t even have the words to articulate my thoughts and feelings, the words to describe how scared I am right now. What do I tell my children? How do I tell them that this time around, I may not get to live my life as a survivor? How do I tell them everything will be okay when it’s not? I’m dying … I don’t want to die.”

It took just a few minutes for her to be on top of the with Mzansi praying for her healing, check out the reactions below:
