It’s been a year since celebrated rapper Riky Rick died, and his wife Bianca Naidoo remembers him. Bianca went on an interview with Drum Magazine, where she opened up about how she struggles to let go of her late husband. However, she focuses on caring for their two children and trying to be strong. Taking on the interview, Bianca said:

“I’ve decided this year not to put pressure on myself. I’m trying to figure out many things, and I want to make Riky proud. I want to be a great mom and support our kids. It’s a lot of learning, this new normal, trying to understand and deal with grief.”

“His last words were, ‘I’m on my way home and love you.’ I went to bed, and when I woke up two hours later and realised that he wasn’t home, I didn’t get concerned right away because sometimes he’d stay late in the studio. I miss everything about him. The kids are constant reminders of him, but in everything I do, he is there.”

With her life-changing so drastically overnight, Bianca has been taking things a day at a time. She remembers the late rapper as a loving father, a caring husband and a driven artist.

While Riky Rick and Bianca were not officially married, the two shared a life together and Bianca was named executor of his estate after a lengthy battle last year.

Riky Rick, who was battling depression, took his own life after he had told Bianca he was on his way home.

Bianca talks about the last moments with Riky Rick

Riky Rick’s wife Bianca talks about her last conversation with her husband before he died.

“We spoke about everything, life, us, the kids and how he was feeling. That conversation gave me a lot of peace because any questions or doubts were spoken about in that conversation we had.

Maik learned so much from Riky because he was so present. He made all the effort in the world to make sure he was present, even when he was tired. He worked a lot but always did activities with the kids.

Losing Riky, I didn’t even know how I was feeling. I can’t even remember if I was numb. Survival mode kicked in, not for myself, but for the kids and everyone around me. I tried to be open and honest with my children because I wanted them to know what happened to me.”
