‘I tried to keep him alive’ – Zandi Khumalo speaks out on Senzo Meyiwa’s death

In an exclusive interview with eNCA that premiered after on Monday, Zandie Khumalo-Gumede detailed her version of events of what happened the night Senzo Meyiwa was murdered.

The former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Meyiwa, was shot dead in October 2014 in Khumalo family home in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg. Present during the shooting was Kelly, her mother Ntombi, Zandie, Zandie’s then boyfriend Longwe Twala as well as Meyiwa’s friends Mthokozisi Twala and Tumelo Madlala.

Zandi Khumalo-Gumede who is the sister to Kelly Khumalo who was Meyiwa’s girlfriend at the time of his murder  was also present in the house when the incident took place.

Speaking to eNCA, Khumalo-Gumede said that they have been suspects and under investigation but Senzo Meyiwa’s wife has never been questioned about her husband’s murder.

“Why is Mandisa not questioned? asked Khumalo-Gumede.

Khumalo-Gumede has also alleged that Meyiwa’s mother used muthi to break Senzo and Kelly apart.

When asked if she also can wait for her day in court Khumalo-Gumede responded saying yes she also want to speak up.

“For the past 8 years we have been telling nothing but the truth. We have been cooperating, assisting where we can,” she said.
