Mkhwebane On Joining EFF: “I Think I Will Be Contributing A Lot”

Former Public Protector, Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane, has recently announced that she will be joining the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) as an ordinary member of the party’s ward 28 in Kwaggafontein, Mpumalanga.

However, Mkhwebane clarified that she is not seeking a fast-track into a position within the party, but rather, she aims to continue her work of helping the poor and marginalized communities.

Mkhwebane, who served as the country’s fourth Public Protector, believes that her expertise in good governance and service delivery-related issues will greatly contribute to the EFF’s mission. She expressed her commitment to working with the communities and utilizing her experience to address their needs.

Her decision to join the EFF follows in the footsteps of Mzwanele Manyi, another former government employee who recently became a member of the party. While neither Mkhwebane nor Manyi currently have a constituency, they bring a wealth of governance experience to the EFF.

Political analyst, Doctor Levy Ndou, acknowledged the potential impact of Mkhwebane’s involvement in the party. He speculated that she might enter Parliament or a provincial legislature, and there is a possibility that she could be given a position in government by the EFF.

However, it remains to be seen how Mkhwebane’s affiliation with the EFF will unfold and what specific role she may play within the party or the government. As an expert in good governance and service delivery, her expertise and experience could prove invaluable in advancing the EFF’s agenda and advocating for the rights of the marginalized.
