Cyril Ramaphosa, president of the African National Congress (ANC), said that no other leader had faced as many difficulties during his five years in office. He insisted that he had done his best to lead the organization and the nation during that time.
Speaking to reporters outside of the general meeting of his own branch at the Chiaweka branch in Chiawelo, Soweto, Ramaphosa acknowledged that many people had points of view about his presidency.

It also supported Paul Mashatile as his deputy, Mdumseni Ntuli as secretary-general, Nomvula Mokonyane for the position of deputy secretary-general, and Pule Mabe, the national spokesperson, was nominated for the position of treasurer-general. Ramaphosa received a yes from his own branch to serve a second term as party president.
Some have claimed that Cyril Ramaphosa took office at the wrong time, according to the ANC president.
Ramaphosa and the nation have lurched from one crisis to the next over the past five years, including the COVID-19 outbreak, rising unemployment, power outages, and the state capture commission era.

No other leader, according to him, has faced the difficulties he has. “I know of no president who has led during the kind of pandemic we’ve had and who was hugely challenged as our people were dying. As unemployment was rising the economy was going down, the unrest that had an impact on our economy and the type of floods we’ve had, all these challenges have come one after the other and have been addressed,” Ramaphosa said.
He said some people often said he moved into office at the wrong time. “They say I got into office to address state capture and, yes, it has been my lot as the president.
“But I have given it the best shot and will continue to do so in service to the people of SA.”
