‘I feel in Europe they respect me’: May Mahlangu | Breaking News

Newly signed FK Aksu midfielder May Mahlangu believes he is more respected in Europe than at home. After several months without a club, Mahlangu joined the Kazakhstan Premier League side this week.

His last club was Ordabasy Shymkent, with whom he parted ways in July last year. His new club confirmed his move via social media: “Aksu football club has signed a contract with South African midfielder May Mahlangu.”

The former Bafana Bafana star is persuaded that overseas clubs take his talents seriously after stints with Helsingborg, Hessleholm, Gothenburg, Konyaspor, St Truiden, Dynamo Bucharest and Ludogorets.

“I feel in Europe they respect me more than in South Africa. In South Africa, they don’t respect players. People are scared to talk. I have so many homes in Europe where I have done well for my career, and I wouldn’t waste that for anyone,” Mahlangu told FARPost.

The 32-year-old has never played for any PSL club after being spotted by Helsingborg while playing for the Stars of Africa Academy in Johannesburg.
