Peter Hyballa did not take charge of even a single official Sekhukhune United match after he was fired by the club on Saturday.
The German was given the boot just over a month into his three-year contract.
Interestingly, he was fired on a day Babina Noko were knocked out of the MTN8 by Cape Town City with the team being led by McDonald Makhubedu.
“The coach has just submitted his letter of resignation, citing pressing matters of a personal nature,” read a statement by Sekhukhune.
“The club has accepted his letter and wishes him well in his future endeavours.”
“Sekhukhune further announced that Mcdonald Makhubedu, who led the team on Saturday against City, will fill the position of head coach in an acting capacity until further notice”.
However, reports suggest Hyballa was sacked over an explosive sex scandal.
A leaked sex tape is said to have been seen by Sekhukhune United bosses, as confirmed by club chairman Simon Malatji.
“We have noted with concern the contents of your media query and the video clip depicting our club coach in an uncompromising position,” Malatji responded to Sunday World.
“To date, this office is applying its mind to the matter in question and legal [counsel] is sought before commenting and forging a way forward in this matter.
“The management wishes to implore the players, the administrative personnel and the technical team to comport themselves in a manner befitting the decorum of the brand and refrain from engaging in activities which have the potential to undermine the integrity and reputation of the team.”
Sunday World reports that the sex tape was shot “at a popular Johannesburg brothel.”
Lehlohonolo Seema is expected to return to the club and replace Hyballa.
