Gavin Hunt has labelled Daine Klate’s sacking as Chippa United head coach as ‘disgraceful’ and vowed to help the former winger ‘get back into the game’.
Klate was shown the exit door by the trigger-happy chairman Siviwe Mpengesi seven games into the 2022/23 season.
The young tactician only managed to register a single victory in his first seven games as a professional coach with four defeats and two draws, leaving Chippa at the bottom of the DStv Premiership table.
Hunt, who enjoyed a good relationship with Klate, as they have worked together at SuperSport United and Bidvest Wits, stated that he will assist Klate bounce back to coaching in the big league again.
The former Kaizer Chiefs coach, Hunt won six titles with Klate [as a player], including four Premiership titles, three at SuperSport United and one at Wits.
“I had a long chat with him [Klate] on Thursday morning. I said to him, ‘you will bounce back’, “Hunt told the media at Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday night after his SuperSport side beat Maritzburg United 2-1.

“I will help him to get back into the game. If I have to take him somewhere with me or whatever, he will get back in the game. He deserves it.”
The four times league winner also had a stint at Chippa. He further revealed the conversation he had with Klate when he took the Chilli Boys job. Chippa also fired hunt after 10 games in charge with only one win, a record similar to Klate.
“I told him what he was getting himself into. I mean it is disgraceful what happened to him, totally disgraceful,” added Hunt, who has had a good start at SuperSport in the DStv Premiership this campaign
“They were doing fine, the team was fighting, and if you want to win, you must buy players,” he concluded.
