Gavin Hunt was full of praise for his teams’ efforts as they beat Cape Town City 1-0 at the DHL Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Tuesday’s victory lifted SuperSport back into the second position on the log.
While Hunt praised his team for the three points, he had less than kind words for the pitch at the DHL Stadium, which he felt didn’t help the football.
“Ja, look, I thought we were good,” Hunt said at the post-match press conference.
“I mean, I thought we played well. I think the biggest hindrance to the game of football is the pitch. I mean, I think it hinders them more than us because obviously, yoh it’s bad. I mean, I haven’t seen it so bad like this for a long time.
“I think when you look at what’s happening with the traffic, and I think, it doesn’t help them. Certainly, the good passing team they are, it’s not going to help them.
“So ja, but I thought we created some good chances away from home, which is important. We changed the structure of the team a bit today.”
Hunt was also disappointed to lose Thatayaone Ditlhokwe to injury, after he had to go off in the first half, and lamented the injuries he’s had in the centre-back position.
“So we’ve lost another centre-back, which is a problem for me, I’ve lost two in two games, and that was a key cornerstone of our team,” he added.
“The two centre-backs look like they’re going to be out for some time. So, we’ve got another two away games in a row, so it’s going to be back to the wall, bit stuff, you know. But all in all, I thought yoh, we were good. Kept the ball well.
“One or two of the loan players that we’ve got, done great. I thought Ndlovu again is outstanding. And Patrick, I mean where this boy is been I don’t know, I mean, what a player.
“But all in all, a good performance. That’s the most important thing.”
