SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt says those who said he was ‘finished’ don’t know football.
Hunt returned to the Tshwane outfit at the start of the season for a second stint after being fired at Kaizer Chiefs and Chippa United in the previous two campaigns.
And while he won three league titles with the club in the past, many onlookers doubted he could inspire Matsatsansa to new heights.
But there’s been some optimism around the club with an emerging crop of talent in the first team as they sit in third place in the league behind Richards Bay and Mamelodi Sundowns.
“There’s no inspiring. I know the person I am and what I come from and where we’ve been and what we’ve done. I’d love to know the people that said that,” Hunt told iDiski Times in an exclusive interview when asked what’s keeping him in the game when others have questioned him.
“I mean, is it the guy who’s an accountant or the guy who’s a plumber, does he know the game? So ja… you just take it one day at a time, and you try to improve the team and try to improve the squad and there’s no lack of desire and heart, that’s for sure.
“Did I come back here for money? No, that’s not for sure. That’s for sure not. But you do it for football reasons. Because I’m excited about what I see here.”
SuperSport face Swallows and Cape Town City next before their local derby against Dondol Stars in the Nedbank Cup last 32 clash.
