Hugo Broos Storms Out Of Post-Match Presser

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos refused to answer questions from journalists at Orlando Stadium after his side’s 2-2 draw with Liberia in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Friday evening.

The Belgian tactician stormed off the pitch after Liberia scored the equaliser and had already sent Helman Mkhalele to media duties after the match.

He tried to do the same with the official post-match press conference but gathered journalists, including iDiski Times’ Lorenz Kohler, requested Broos’ presence as per CAF protocols.

Eventually a dejected Broos appeared but he wasn’t ready to discuss the game after his side had thrown away a two-goal lead.

“You have to apologise me today because I will not give much comment on game, I will not answer your questions,” he said.

“There is too much disappointment, too much frustration, too much anger in my body that if I should now what I think that would not be nice.

“I’ve always been ready in the past to answer your questions, even difficult questions but I hope that you understand that today it’s for me very difficult to that.

“Again, sorry for that. But I hope when you saw the game, when you saw what happened on the pitch you can understand my reaction also. I thank you very much.”

The 2-2 draw saw Bafana drop to the bottom-spot in the log based on the two away goals scored by Liberia and they now need to beat the Lone Stars in Monrovia to keep their chances of qualifying for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations alive.
