Huge Twist In Senzo Murder Trial

There has been a huge twist in the ongoing Senzo Meyiwa murder trial after Advocate Malesela Teffo stated an eye witness will testify that Kelly Khumalo allegedly shot the former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper by mistake.

Teffo represents four of the five men accused of killing Meyiwa on the fateful evening on 26 October 2014, when he was at his then-girlfriend, Khumalo’s house in Boksburg.

On Wednesday, Teffo cross-examined first state witness Sergeant Thabo Mosia and said: “I put it to you Mr Mosia that a witness, not just a witness, an eyewitness will testify that Senzo Robert Meyiwa was allegedly shot by Nonhlanhla Kelly Khumalo by mistake, as it’s alleged.”

The quote was taken from the video released by Newsroom Afrika, who were at the court proceedings on Wednesday.

The alleged witness is yet to be called to stand, as the cross-examining at the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has started with Mosia.

Teffo further alleges that Meyiwa was accidentally shot by a revolver that was brought to the house by Longwe Twala, the son of musician Chicco Twala.

Muzikawukhulelwa S’Tembu Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Ziphozonke Maphisa, and Fisokuhle Ntuli have been charged for the murder of Meiywa, but all pleaded not guilty.

The trial is ongoing.
