Former Orlando Pirates winger Thabo Rakhale has opened up about the struggle of surviving without a club since he parted company with Sekhukhune United in the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season.

Rakhale spent the entire 2022/23 as a free agent since he left Babina Noko over a year ago.

The dribbling wizard admitted that the club search hasn’t been easy as he’s been keeping fit with the amateur team called Ben 10 from the Vaal area.

Rakhale turned himself into a fan-favorite during his time at Pirates with his dribbling abilities. However his career has since taken a dip in recent years.

With the transfer window opening on the 1st of July 2023, Rakhale is hopeful of receiving offers and return to the proffesional football.

“I’ve been training and playing with a local team called Ben 10 and as for the teams, I haven’t heard from anyone. Maybe it’s because the season just ended,” Rakhale told FARPost.

“So I had trials with Platinum City Rovers and things were going well until I stopped because I had personal matters I needed to sort out.

“Emotionally not having a team was frustrating at first but with the support structure I have, it became a lot easier to accept that everything can’t go your way all the time.

“I have met a lot of coaches and players in this period. Most of them would encourage me to not give up,”

Meanwhile, Rakhale spent four seasons with the Buccaneers after joining the club during the 2014/15 campaign.

The 33-year attacker made over 80 appearances in all competitions for Pirates, scoring four goals while contributing five assists.

Rakhale left the Sea Robbers at the end of the 2017/18 season and he has since struggled to find a stable club. Amongst the teams that he has played for since leaving Pirates are Chippa United and Marumo Gallants.
