Musa Mseleku has disclosed how much he spends on each of his wives’ households.
Recent episodes of Old Mutual’s Head of Financial Education with host John Manyike featured him as a guest. During the episode, he discussed his finances and how he supports his four wives.
He disclosed to the host that he spends approximately R30,000 on groceries annually.
“Take a look at it like this: the cost of the essentials, such as oil, is approximately R4,500. Adding cleaning supplies brings the total to R 6,000,” he said.
“Per household, I may underestimate. Then, by multiplying for each household, you arrive at a range of R30,000. If they do not save the money they earn, a crisis will ensue,” he continued. “Let me put it this way: if your child has the opportunity to earn money while you are still alive, he or she must save it.”
Musa and his fifth wife, Thobile, just got married. “I would call it a first-rate wedding. We thoroughly enjoyed the African drinks and cuisine. A source told Daily Sun that they kept the wedding a secret because they were also filming the upcoming season of Uthando Nesthembu, which will premiere before the end of the year.
Musa has been very vocal about his desire for a fifth wife, but some of his current wives are opposed to the idea.
In an interview with TshisaLIVE, he stated that he must obtain their collective consent before he can marry a fifth woman.
“I have called a number of meetings, both as a group and as an individual, and I have expressed my opinion that the request has been denied. Because I don’t want anyone to leave me because of this decision, I intend to continue presenting the same information in different ways or persuading until I reach a collective agreement that everyone is satisfied with.
“Asking my wives for permission to marry a fifth time is no longer a question for me. I’m currently awaiting their response. And I’m using contemporary methods. If it were earlier, I’d tell them I’m taking,” he said.
He continued, “According to tradition, I should inform the first wife of my intention to take a fifth wife, and she would then inform the other wives; however, in modern times, it does not work that way because all wives must be treated equally.”
The fifth wife of Musa Mseleku, MaCele, gave Musa an ultimatum: “I gave Musa a deadline to marry as many wives as possible, but he had to do so before our 20th wedding anniversary,” MaCele told Daily Sun.
