Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has revealed how Bafana Bafana’s strikers’ form could benefit the national team in the AFCON qualifiers.

Coach Hugo Broos appears to have a healthy attackers’ selection headache for the two-legged CAF AFCON qualifier tie against Liberia, with his forwards having responded well to his call-ups.

Bafana boasts a wealth of striking options for the two matches, with the likes of Percy Tau, Lyle Foster, and Bongokuhle Hlongwane looking sharp.

South Africa will battle it out with the West African side in the first leg at Orlando Stadium on Friday, 24 March, with the kick-off arranged to start at 18:00.

Broos’ charges will then travel to Liberia for the second leg scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 28 March 2023.

Bafana captain, Williams, has come forward to commend his attackers’ in-form and believes it will benefit the national team.

HOW BAFANA’S ON-FORM FORWARDS COULD BENEFIT THE TEAM

“It’s amazing, you know, we have always cried as a country that we don’t have serial goalscorers,” Williams told the media.

“We have got a few now. And now, we need to cherish it and help them as a team, especially the backline to keep clean sheets. Once we do our job [at the back], we are sure they will do the job upfront.

“All of them are scoring, even Zakhele Lepasa; a week ago, he scored a brace. So, it’s good for them and the team as a whole.

“Hopefully, they can carry their form into the national team set-up.”

Now, Broos is a happy man as he has a full squad compliment with the arrival of Sphephelo Sithole and Bongokuhle Hlongwane last night.

And two wins for the Belgian mentor against Liberia will seal his side’s qualification for the 2023 AFCON tournament due to be held in Ivory Coast.
