HORRIFIC! Toddler’s body found in a bag dragged by dogs

On Friday, 28 April 2023, a community member in Chweni, Kabokweni, discovered the decomposing body of a toddler in a maize meal bag.

Toddler’s body found in maize meal bag

The community member, who was near a chicken farm, saw dogs dragging the bag. He chased the dogs away and opened the bag, finding the body inside.

The badly decomposed body left the community member unable to identify the child. He reported the discovery to the police, who are investigating the matter.

Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, has warned community members to stay away from the dangerous Injaka dam and Injaka forest.

The area has been the scene of several recent crimes, including rapes, robberies, and murders.

Another body found in a sack in a separate incident

A decomposing body was found in Bushbuckridge on Friday, 28 April 2023. The body was found by a community member who was out gathering firewood around 11:00.

The body was covered in a sack and was in a state of advanced decomposition. The community member immediately alerted the police, who arrived on the scene and declared the person dead.

The identity of the deceased person is unknown. The police are urging community members who have missing loved ones to contact Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Mashego at 082 469 1298 to arrange for identification of the deceased.

The police are also investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
