Mary Ntsweng’s second-half free-kick ensured that Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) bagged maximum points and bragging rights in the Hollywoodbets Super League Tshwane derby against Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies on Sunday.
The 1-0 defeat was Sundowns second loss of the season, however, it did not have any impact on their log standings. The African champions remain top of the log with 49 points in 19 matches, while the Red Army closed in on second-placed JVW Girls, as they are now tied on 45 points.
JVW played to a goalless draw away at the University of Western Cape (UWC) and have two games in hand and a better goal difference than TUT. UWC occupy fourth spot on the standings with 39 points in 19 encounters.
At the other end of the table, Golden Ladies endured yet another loss as they went down 4-1 to newcomers Vasco da Gama at Parow Park.
Golden Ladies sit at the bottom of the table with six points in 21 matches, equal with Tsunami Queens just above them but have played 19 games.
Golden Ladies have the leakiest defence in the league so far this campaign having conceded 78 goals, one goal less than what the top side Sundowns have scored.
