Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies reduced the points between themselves and the side that’s at the summit of the Hollywoodbets Super League log, University of Western Cape (UWC) to nine points after thrashing City Lads 6-0 in the capital city over the weekend.

Boitumelo Rabale grabbed a hat-trick, two goals in the first half and the other in the second half while Miche Minnies, Lebogang Ramalepe and Refilwe Tholakele were also on the score sheet as Sundowns maintained second spot with 54 points in 21 matches.

The former African champions have been playing catch up since returning from the CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA qualifiers in Durban last month.

The side could not release players to be part of the national team currently at the COSAFA Cup in Gauteng because of this and also because they are busy preparing for the Champions League continental finals in Ivory Coast next month.

Meanwhile, City Lads are 13th on the log with 18 points in 25 outings. In the double header in Polokwane Ma-Indies still remain in trouble as they drew 2-2 with Richmond United.

The Limpopo outfit remains at the bottom of the log with eight points in 26 matches while United are seventh on the table with 40 points in 25 games.

In another match played in Limpopo, First Touch Academy lost 2-0 to Thunderbirds Ladies.

The Academy is placed 10th on the standings with 29 points in 25 outings while Thunderbirds are third from bottom with 17 points from 26 games.

In the other match played this weekend JVW FC were 1-0 winners over Coal City Wizards in Mpumalanga, a result that sees them stay in third sport behind Sundowns with 53 points from 24 matches.

The Wizards remain in danger in 15th place with 13 points from 25 games, four points outside the relegation zone.
