The Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) has confirmed that history was made this week after all general entries for the 2026 race were snapped up in less than ten hours, a new record for the world-renowned ultra-marathon.
A staggering 22,000 entries for the 2026 event—which will be an ‘up run’ from Durban to Pietermaritzburg—went on sale at 10:00 on Monday and were completely sold out before 20:00 that very evening.
The astonishing speed with which the spots were filled highlights the intense demand for “The Ultimate Human Race.”
In a statement released across their social media platforms, the CMA hailed the rapid sell-out as a “testament to the passion and support” of runners for the event.
