Hijacked vehicle recovered in Tsakane, police uniforms seized in raid

Gauteng Traffic Police rapidly recovered a hijacked Toyota Corolla Quest in Tsakane, tracing it via a tracker alert after it was stolen in Brakpan.
During the search of the property where the car was found, officers seized SAPS uniform items discovered inside the house.
The confiscated uniforms will be investigated for potential links to the hijacking and the impersonation of police officers.

The Gauteng Traffic Police and Traffic Wardens led to the rapid recovery of a hijacked vehicle and the seizure of official South African Police Service (SAPS) uniforms during a subsequent search in Tsakane.

The operation was initiated following an alert from a vehicle tracker company regarding a stolen Toyota Corolla Quest. The vehicle had been reported as hijacked in the nearby town of Brakpan.

Traffic officers successfully traced the stolen car to a residential property located on Mkhwani Street in Tsakane. Upon locating the vehicle inside a yard, officers conducted a thorough search of the premises as part of the ongoing investigation.

The search yielded several items of SAPS uniform discovered inside the house. These items were immediately confiscated.

Authorities believe the discovery of the uniforms is significant and will form a key part of the investigation into the hijacking. It raises concerns over potential links to criminal activity, including the impersonation of police officers.

A spokesperson for the Gauteng Traffic Police confirmed that the investigation is active and ongoing, focusing on the suspects involved in the hijacking and the unauthorised possession of state uniforms.
