Hijacked Bakkie Found Abandoned After Crash In Verulam

On Wednesday, a GWM bakkie was hijacked at gunpoint on Wick Street in the Verulam Central Business District. The owner of the vehicle was faced with a terrifying ordeal as the suspect forcibly took control of the bakkie.

The hijacking was reported immediately to the authorities, and Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) promptly posted about the missing vehicle on social media, seeking public assistance in locating it.

Shortly after the hijacking, a resident of Waterloo in KwaZulu-Natal contacted RUSA’s operations centre. The resident reported a bakkie matching the description of the stolen vehicle had crashed on Pumpkin Road in Waterloo, north of Durban. This crucial tip led to a coordinated response by the authorities.

Upon arrival at the scene, RUSA officers, members of the South African Police Service, and a vehicle tracking company found the abandoned bakkie.
