Highlanders to take advantage of Malesela confusion at Royal AM |

Mbabane Highlanders coach Selaotse Mosala has said the confusion surrounding coach Dan ‘Dance’ Malesela’s future at Royal AM could work to his Eswatini team’s advantage.

The South African coach said this ahead of their meeting with Royal AM on Friday afternoon in the CAF Champions League preliminary round second leg match at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Mosala told the media in Eswatini amid reports that Malesela might soon be on his way back to rejoin Marumo Gallants to step in the shoes of Frenchman Romain Folz.

The Frenchman resigned on the eve of a DStv Premiership match against Swallows a few weeks ago, citing interference in his work.

Malesela managed Gallants last season to finish safely away from the relegation zone, but management opted against renewing his contract.

“We will have to capitalize on the ongoing confusion within the club. Remember this is the same coach who put them top of the log standings two weeks ago, and he might be leaving, so they will have some problems in terms of how they react to the situation,” he said.

The former Sekhukhune United mentor said he was optimistic Royal AM will go past the preliminary round and qualify for the first round.

“This match is a must-win for us, so we will want to seal the victory within 90 minutes and not go to penalties, so we are going all out,” Mosala said.

Meanwhile, Highlanders midfielder Siboniso Lukhele is doubtful for this afternoon’s match against Royal AM due to an injury.

The Eswatini league champions said Lukhele has not recovered in time ahead of the preliminary round second-leg encounter.

“Mbabane Highlanders Football Club medical team can confirm that only one player (Siboniso Lukhele) is doubtful for today’s game. On a positive note, the rest of the players will be available for selection for this afternoon CAF clash. GwazaNkunzi,” Mbabane Highlanders said in a statement.

Mbabane Highlanders and Royal AM shared the spoils at 0-0 in the first leg played in Eswatini last week.
