‘He’s lying’ Malema tears into Kenny Kunene over DJ Sumbody suspect visit

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has criticised Patriotic Alliance (PA) vice president Kenny Kunene over his presence at the Sandton home of Katiso “KT” Molefe, who is accused of murdering DJ Sumbody.

Kunene was found at the home of the alleged mastermind behind the 2022 murder of DJ Sumbody (Oupa John Sefoka).

He was present at the Sandton residence of the controversial businessman on Monday when police arrived to make the arrest.

Kunene claims he was there to facilitate a journalist interview, but Malema dismissed this as a cover story, questioning Kunene’s alleged ignorance of Molefe.

“To take a journalist is not a secret operation. Who is that journalist? Why would you take a journalist to someone who just came out of prison, someone who is on bail, as an MMC?,” he said.

Malema was speaking during a media briefing in Cape Town on Thursday ahead of the EFF’s 12th anniversary celebrations taking place this weekend.

He accused Kunene of lying and labelled the PA as a party of “bandits”.

“We told you these [people] are criminals. They are nothing but mabhantinti [bandits]. He says he doesn’t know that guy; he knows that guy. I know that guy, not from a personal point of view, [he’s] a well-known businessman. Until now, we knew him as a businessman.

“That’s a lie. It’s a pure lie and that’s how thugs 26, 28 [prison] gangs succeed. They lie, they think they can outsmart everyone. Kenny’s story is not coming together.”

Malema also expressed confidence that more arrests would follow in the DJ Sumbody case.
