Affectionately referred to by many as the Springboks’ “Ice Man” flyhalf, Handre Pollard has once again reinforced this narrative by placing his ice where it belongs; some brandy.

The 31-year-old recently followed in the footsteps of many of his teammates by ensuring that his aura off the field balances that which he oozes while on it. This comes as the soon-to-be father of two was recently revealed as the new face of the Invictus VSOP Cape Brandy.

Taking to Instagram, Handre, who has won several accolades with the national team, including two Rugby World Cups, a British and Irish Lions Series, and Rugby Championship trophies, shared a snippet of a hilarious video in which he surprised a few Bok supporters during the brandy’s sampling session.

In the video, which promotes the alcoholic beverage at various Checkers retailers, Handre is seen disguising himself before eventually revealing who he is, leaving many pleasantly surprised.

After spending several years abroad, playing for French team Montpellier and later at England’s Leicester Tigers, the Springbok number 10 has announced his decision to return to South Africa, where he will once again represent the Blue Bulls in Pretoria.

Furthermore, his return home was accompanied by the exciting announcement that he and his wife, Marise, will soon be parents to a girl, due to arrive in October.

His latest venture sees him follow in the footsteps of many of his teammates who have all started lucrative businesses in the same space.

After winning the 2019 World Cup, Steven Kitshoff and Malcolm Marx launched their beer called the Bomb Squad Lager, while the trio of Ox Nche, Bongi Mbonambi, and Trevor Nyankane also launched their wine called Bomalumz.
