Day one of matchday two of the Uefa Champions League delivered 32 goals as Arsenal, Manchester City, Barcelona, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund all picked up big wins.
The gargantuan tie of the week saw Paris Saint Germain visit North London as Mikel Arteta’s side saw off the French giants with a 2-0 victory at the Emirates.
Despite dominating the possession away from home, PSG failed to find that finishing touch against a resolute Gunners backline.
Kai Havertz got the opener before Bukayo Saka doubled the advantage before the break with a dangerous free kick.
Over in Slovakia, Manchester City cruised past Slovan Bratislava with a 4-0 win to extend their run in the competition to 25 games without defeat.
The run is level with Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United’s all-time Champions League record for the longest ever unbeaten streak.
Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen defeated AC Milan 1-0 as Victor Boniface became the first Nigerian to score for a German club in the Champions League since Chinedu Obasi a decade ago.
Leverkusen’s Bundesliga rivals, Borussia Dortmund, were in seventh heaven with their win over Celtic as Nuri Sahin’s side beat his former Liverpool manager Brendan Rogers 7-1 at the Signal Iduna Park.
In the other games, Barcelona thrashed Young Boys 5-0 while Inter Milan were 4-0 winners over Crvena zvezda and PSV against Sporting ended 1-1.
Brest beat Salzburg 4-0 while Stuttgart and Sparta Praha played out a 1-1 draw in the earlier fixtures.
In the pick of Wednesday’s games, Anfield will return to the Champions League stage as the Reds host Bologna while Harry Kane and Bayern Munich will make the trip to Aston Villa.
