Grab that cup of coffee — cool, cloudy weekend with thunderstorms in store for Gauteng

  • Gauteng is in for a cool, cloudy weekend with thunderstorms.
  • Pretoria will see slightly warmer temperatures and higher rainfall chances on Sunday.
  • Johannesburg can expect thundershowers and mild weather throughout the weekend.

A cool and cloudy weekend lies ahead for Gauteng, with the South African Weather Service (SAWS) forecasting thundershowers across the province.

According to SAWS, residents can expect a mix of warm and wet conditions, with partly cloudy skies and scattered thunderstorms in both Pretoria and Johannesburg on Saturday and Sunday.

In the capital city, Saturday will start off partly cloudy with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 29°C. 

Thunderstorms are expected to develop later in the day, bringing a 30% chance of rain and around 3mm of rainfall. 

Sunday will be slightly warmer, with temperatures between 15°C and 31°C and a 60% chance of showers.

The city of gold is expected to experience cooler conditions, with thundershowers persisting throughout the weekend. 

On Saturday, temperatures will range between 14°C and 25°C, with a 60% probability of rainfall. Sunday will bring continued showers and a slight temperature rise to 28°C, with a 30% chance of rain and moderate northeast winds.
