Layla Kolbe, the wife of Springboks wing Cheslin Kolbe, has responded to reports of his broken jaw during the Springboks vs All Blacks third test on Saturday 5 September. The game took place at the FNB Stadium in Soweto, Gauteng.
CHESLIN KOLBE HAS A BROKEN JAW
The Springboks defeated the All Blacks 29-24 at their third test on Saturday 5 September. However, the win was bitter-sweet for Cheslin Kolbe as he broke his jaw. Cheslin was switched from wing to full back for the match after a hamstring injury ruled out Damian Willemse.
Coach Rassie Erasmus confirmed that Cheslin had broke his jaw.
“It was intense. It was a seriously good Test match in everything that it means because we were tested to our limits. Both teams lost vital players. We lost Cheslin and I’m sorry to tell you that he has broken his jaw, so obviously he won’t travel to the USA. They lost their captain, Savea,” he said.
“It was a fierce battle in all departments, and the score at the end showed how close it was. We are just happy we won. Now both teams are on the same flight to the USA, and we understand that we have to replicate this in Baltimore,” he continued.
Erasmus expressed that he was also impressed by the All Blacks’ ability to keep the ball alive and create opportunities from broken-field play.
“They are brilliant in how they handle the ball. None of us can say they don’t keep the ball alive; they play to their strengths.”
LAYLA KOLBE REACTS TO CHESLIN’S BROKEN JAW
Cheslin’s wife and mom of his three kids, Layla responded to reports of his broken jaw.
“We cannot reply to everyone and answer calls right now. We appreciate your concern and prayers. Giving it all to God. God is in control,” she wrote on her Instagram story.
