Three members of Ghana’s coaching team, including former Premier League defender John Paintsil, are recovering after a car crash.

Head coach Otto Addo, goalkeepers coach Fatawu Dauda and assistant Paintsil were on their way back from scouting a club game in Ghana when the car they were travelling in crashed.

Their vehicle was damaged after being steered away to avoid a head-on collision with a truck that veered into their lane.

The Ghanaian Football Association hope that the trio will be okay and recovered in time to take charge for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger on Thursday and Monday.

Addo, who formerly played for and assisted at Borussia Dortmund, is in his second spell as Black Stars manager while Paintsil played for Premier League sides West Ham, Fulham and Leicester between 2006 and 2012.

“The team had been on an official assignment, observing the Champion of Champions clash between FC Samartex 1996 and Nsoatreman FC,” the Ghana FA said in a statement..

“We are happy to report that all three members of the technical team are in stable condition and will undergo further medical assessments, as a precautionary measure, upon their return to Accra.”
