DEPARTMENT: CIVIL ENGINEERING

ANNUAL BASIC SALARY: R 122 280.00 per annum (post level 16) plus normal company benefits & a 25% non-pensionable allowance

Section: Roads and Stormwater

Requirements:
• Basic Literacy
• Grade 10 will be an added advantage
• Communication skills to ensure effective reporting
• Ability to read and write and to converse in simple English
• Physically fit to perform physical duties
• Applicants must be prepared to work irregular and longhours
• The incumbent will be required to follow instructions given and carry out labour intensive duties
• Ability to operate and work with heavy equipment and tools on regular basis

The successful applicant / candidate must possess competencies as published Annexure A of the Governement Gazette 45181 of 20 September 2021

Key Performance areas:
• Implement safe working procedures
• Report incidents to immediate Supervisor
• Performing duties as instructed by Supervisor which may include digging of trenches and assisting with the preparation of the bedding, lying of pipes and repairing of roads backfilling and compacting the trench by using correct tools and equipment during the repair of pipelines
• Unblock pipelines by removing roots and silt from pipe benching
• Disinfect polluted areas by applying disinfectant
• Leave site in a neat and tidy condition by removig items of pollution.
• Maintain sewer manholes by replacing broken or stolen sewer manhole lids and frames
• Clean silt traps and wet wells by using shovels, spades, buckets and sludge Sumps
• Load, off-load and move work related goods and equipment
• Assist in the rendering of Roads and Storm Water Services for proper construction and maintanance of all services.
• Assisting in keeping vehicles clean.
• Ensuring that equipment is clean of debris.
• Ensuring that all tasks are completed as instructed and scheduled.
• Deliver notices, circulars, etc to residents whilst performing duties.
• Ensure that personal protective clothing issued is worn during working hours in compliance with the Occupation Health & Safety Act.
