Frosler Excited For Derby – iDiski Times

Kaizer Chiefs defender Reeve Frosler says he is excited for Saturday’s Soweto derby, but admits it would be more exciting if the supporters were going to attend the game.

This will be the seventh derby (including the Black Label Challenge) in a row without supporters, with fans having last attended the big match back in February 2020.

Frosler says it is always exciting in the build-up to the derby,

“It’s exciting,” Frosler told the club’s media department.

“Little bit of nerves here and there. I don’t think as much nerves without the fans unfortunately. Would love for the fans to come back.

“But ja, excited. Looking forward to it again, hopefully get a game, get a chance to do what I know best. Ja, but mostly excitement. And ja, eagerness.”

While there have been a lot of debates about whether the derby still has the same stature in recent times, Frosler feels it is still the biggest game in the country, and it is only because the fans aren’t there, that people are even debating this.

“I think the only reason why people think that the derby is down is because there’s no fans,” Frosler added.

“If the stadiums are full, I don’t think they’ll be saying that anymore, because they will see the atmosphere.

“And once you experience the atmosphere and the game, I’m sure you could have a different perspective on the game. That’s my opinion on it.”
