Mehdi Narjissi, a 17-year-old French rugby player, went missing while swimming near the Cape of Good Hope after being swept away by a wave during a team outing.

Boats and helicopters are being used in the massive search.

The French Rugby Federation (FRR) confirmed the news.

“Mehdi Narjissi, a Stade Toulouse player who travelled to South Africa to compete in the International Series with the French men’s under-18 team, has disappeared,” the federation reported.

“Around 4pm on Wednesday, he was swept away by a wave while swimming with his teammates. Rescue services are working to find him.”

Mehdi is the son of Djalil Narjissi, a famous rugby player.

The FRR is supporting the team and Mehdi’s family during this tough time.

The French under-18 team is in Cape Town for the U18 International Series, where they are supposed to play against South Africa, England, and Georgia.
