Les Bleus picked up their first win of the Uefa Nations League campaign as they dominated Belgium to seal a 2-0 victory in Lyon on Monday.

Didier Deschamps made eight changes to the side that lost 3-1 to Italy on Friday, with captain Kylian Mbappe the most notable omission from the starting eleven.

The visitors started brighter as they created chances early on, but the hosts weathered the storm and went ahead shortly before the half hour mark as Kolo Muani latched on to a loose ball to put his side in front.

After the break, Muani’s PSG teammate Ousmane Dembele doubled the advantage, beating Koen Casteels with a classy strike to mark his return to form.

Mbappe’s introduction late on could well have made for more goals, but it was not to be as the Belgians edged the possession and kept the scoreline at 2-0.

Italy’s 2-1 victory over Israel in Budapest ensured they kept top spot in Group A2, with France and Belgium now level on three points in second and third place respectively.

On Tuesday, England face Finland in Group B2 while the Netherlands take on Germany in a highly anticipated Group A3 clash.
