The Western Cape police arrested four Namibians for a house robbery at a smallholding in the rural area of Melkbosstrand on Monday night.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Malcolm Pojie said a woman reported that she had been tied up by the robbers, who then searched her home for valuables.

The suspects escaped with jewellery and electronic devices, but the woman managed to free herself and get help.

The police quickly organised a search to find the suspects, who were believed to still be in the area.

The team found the four suspects in nearby farmlands using a thermal imaging device that detects the heat generated by living bodies at night.

The suspects, aged between 29 and 35, were arrested, and some stolen items, including jewellery and electronic devices, were recovered.

The police also found the knives and screwdrivers used as weapons in the robbery.

The suspects are set to appear in the Atlantis Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 22 August, on charges of house robbery.
