  • Four Chinese nationals have been arrested for operating a sex trafficking ring and brothel in Pretoria’s CBD.
  • Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya says 30 undocumented workers were also detained during the operation.
  • Moya suspects some City officials may be aiding the illegal establishment, which also sells fake alcohol.

Four Chinese nationals have been arrested for running a sex trafficking ring and brothel in the Pretoria CBD on Tuesday evening. This was confirmed by City of Tshwane Mayor, Nasiphi Moya.

Tshwane officials also managed to arrest 30 more people who work in the brothel for various crimes, including being in the country illegally.

“They all do not have documentation to be in South Africa. What’s also concerning is that a brothel is flourishing well on Bloed Street at the benefit of unlawful people. We are determined to deal with lawlessness in Tshwane,” said Moya.

She added that the establishment also sells fake alcohol and operates in one of the most chaotic areas that the City has not previously focused on.

“There are fifteen young women and fifteen men who are working in this establishment without proper documentation; we are arresting all of them,” Moya said.

The mayor further revealed that the brothel appears to have the cooperation of certain City officials, as it has access to proper electricity and water supply.

“We have a problem internally; some of our officials are not loyal. This side of the city is very dirty, and we will be camping here and cleaning up in the next few weeks,” she added.

We found several people hiding on the rooftop of this sports nightclub which is an illegal establishment. The people we found hiding on the rooftop don’t have documentation to be in South Africa. We claw out any criminality. One by One ☝️! @CityTshwane pic.twitter.com/Bvm4wdmxes
